Illinois Press Association Sesquicentennial Celebration

Illinois Press Association Sesquicentennial Celebration
June 10-12, 2015
Bloomington-Normal Marriot
Normal, IL

This year's event marked the 150th anniversary of IPA. Both editorial and advertising departments were in attendance for networking, professional development, and the opportunity to learn about useful products, materials and information from exhibitors. Attendees discovered innovative business strategies, practical ideas, and creative ways to serve and connect with their community. Metro Regional Sales Manager, Jennifer Steiner was on hand at the conference.

Congratulations to Illinois Press on your 150th anniversary, and to all of the contest winners. We would also like to give a special congratulations to the six individuals honored with Distinguished Service Awards during the Thursday evening Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony: Patrick Coburn, Howard Hay, Sandy Macfarland, Douglas K. Ray and Clyde Wills.

The IPA was founded in 1865 as an organization for Illinois publishers. It has evolved into one of the largest state newspaper associations in the country representing more than 450 daily and weekly newspapers. The IPA continues to provide professional education, government access and newspaper advertising promotion to members. They also provide assistance for Newspapers in Education and literacy programs, education and promotion of the First Amendment, information on evolving technology and new media, and "hot button" seminars.
